Boyle Tosses Perfect Game; Saints Break Two Single-Game Records, Tie One in 31-0 Rout of Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Scoring early and often, the University of St. Francis softball team extended its winning streak to a season-high eight games with its 31-0 victory over Mount Mary University (Wis.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints (28-8, 14-1 CCAC) had things well in hand after the first two innings, scoring 11 of its 31 runs by that time.  And with Emily Boyle (15-2) on the mound, that was more than enough run support for the junior, who tossed the first perfect game of her collegiate career, retiring all 15 Blue Angels (0-23, 0-11) in order while striking out seven in the five-inning mercy rule shortened affair.

Offensively, eleven different Fighting Saint players recorded at least one hit on the day, including Isabella Landeros (3-for-3, 6 RBIs, 2 runs), Kamryn Koontz (1-for-1, 2 RBIs, 3 runs) and Emily Hurst (4-for-4, 4 RBIs, 5 runs), who all authored a homerun in the game.  The trio finished the day with a perfect combined 8-for-8 showing at the plate with 12 runs batted in and 12 runs scored.

Kylie Cook provided the most hits (five) in the game to go along with one RBI and four runs scored.

USF opened the contest with a six-run first inning, followed by five runs in the second - which included back-to-back homeruns from Landeros and Koontz - before posting matching 10-run frames in each of the third and fourth innings, which was highlighted by a three-run round tripper off the bat of Hurst in the third, to close out its scoring for the day.  The 31 runs scored set a new single-game program record for the Saints, who bested its previous total of 28 which occurred versus Illinois Institute of Technology in 1994 and again against Trinity International University in 2015.

For the game, USF hitters drove in 27 runs off of 28 hits, the former setting a new program RBI mark and the latter of which tied a program mark for most hits in a contest which occurred versus Trinity International in 2015.

Sarah Viar (4-for-6, 4 RBIs, 3 runs), Missy Saldana (3-for-4, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Morgan Smardo (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Alana Gray (2-for-2, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Boyle (2-for-5, 1 RBI, 4 runs), Hailey Kaddatz (1-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs) and Juliana Anderson (1-for-3, 2 RBIs, 1 run) all also produced one or more hits with at least one RBI on the day, while Jaelynn Taylor (2) and Mackenzie Farkas (1) each crossed the plate and Abby Sippel drove in one run.
