JOLIET, Ill. --
Emily Hurst and
Isabella Landeros each authored clutch RBIs in the fourth inning to lead the University of St. Francis softball team to a tight 2-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over St. Ambrose University (Iowa) on Monday afternoon at the Harlow Lockwood Softball Fields Athletic Complex in Joliet, Ill.
After spotting St. Ambrose (17-12, 7-2 CCAC) an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning, the Saints exploded for two runs in the bottom half of the same frame highlighted by a RBI-double from Hurst to score
Katherine Winkel and a two-out RBI-infield single from Landeros to plate
Chylece Cluck.
Emily Boyle picked up the victory win in the circle for the Saints, upping her season record to 12-2 overall. She scattered five hits across 5 1/3 innings of work, with one strikeout against three walks before handing the ball off to
Kaitlyn Schofield. The junior hurler would not allow a hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief resulting in her first save of the season.
Kylie Cook finished the day going 2-for-2 at the plate. Along with Hurst and Landeros,
Sarah Viar would account for USF's fifth hit of the game.
