PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- A six-run fourth inning by Trinity Christian College put an end to the University of St. Francis baseball team's perfect record in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 11-4 Troll victory on Saturday afternoon.
The second game of the doubleheader was postponed in the top of the first inning by snow showers with the Fighting Saints leading 1-0. A make-up date has not been announced.
Christian Rosales accounted for all the runs batted in for USF (9-12, 6-1 CCAC). His two singles and a groundout produced three runs.
Nate Maliska and
Noah Munson each contributed a pair of hits, with
Mitchell Thomas supplying the team's seventh hit.
Trinity Christian (10-9, 4-3) doubled up on the Saints in the hits olumn with 14. Brodie Mayberry and Mario Jiminez each collected three with Mayberry also driving in three runs.
After singling to tie the game at one-all in the second inning, Rosales gave the Saints a 2-1 edge in the top of the fourth inning with his two-out double. Trinity Christian erased that lead in a big way with its six-run bottom half of the inning before adding four more runs in the eighth.
St. Francis pushed across two more unearned runs in the ninth inning to account for the final scoring.
