MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Sparked by a 25-0 advantage on points off turnovers, the University of St. Francis women's basketball team secured its 24th win of the season with its 100-36 victory over Mount Mary University (Wis.) at the Bloechl Center on Wednesday evening. The Saints racked up 15 steals on the day en route to the 64-point triumph with
Symone Harrell leading the pack with four thefts. Injury forced the contest to be halted with 4:17 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Harrell (28 points) and
Coryn Fromm (20) were key offensive pieces for the Saints (24-3, 16-3 CCAC) with each player authoring 20-plus points, while
Tykara Harrison (16) and
Le'lani Harris (12) both also reached double figures. Overall, nine of USF's 11 players that saw action registered their name in the points column before the contest ended.
The Saints shot 29.2 percentage points higher than their opponent en route to the decisive victory, closing with an 18-for-38 performance (47.4 percent) in the game's final 20 minutes. For the day, USF shot 47.6 percent (39-of-82) to Mount Mary's 18.4 percent reading (9-of-49).
Harrell netted half of her 28 career-high points in the opening quarter, hitting 5-of-8 of her field goals as well as four three-pointers at the start.
Norriah Broomfield led Mount Mary (8-19, 1-18) in scoring, totaling eight points.
The Saints had a 20-point advantage (27-7) on the scoreboard in the game's first ten minutes before extending the lead to 34 points (59-25) by halftime.
The game's final 10 minutes never saw USF drop below a 51-point lead, while the scoring margin ballooned to as high as 64 points following a
Baylei Johnson jumper on the Saints' final possession. A serious MMU injury with 4:17 seconds remaining at the end of the fourth quarter caused the contest to be halted with both teams agreeing to stop play and declare the game official with a final score of 100-36.
Like the turnover margin (20-11), the Saints also authored an advantage on the boards, producing a 60-25 difference. Harrison led the charge with her game-high nine rebounds, while Harrell followed by grabbing eight boards.
