Di Gennaro Records Ten Saves In 0-0 Draw Versus Judson

JOLIET, Ill. -- Thanks to a solid 10-save performance from goalkeeper Elio Di Gennaro, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team wrapped up a hard-fought battle against Judson University with a 0-0 deadlock in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night at Joliet Memorial Stadium.  With the tie, St. Francis stands at 2-2-6 overall, and 0-0-4 in league action.

First Half
In the opening half, both squads had solid opportunities to score, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.  St. Francis targeted the goal two times with its best opportunity coming at 39:45.  After JU keeper Ivan Dominguez tried to make a diving save following a hard shot from Max Gaudry, the ball ricocheted off the left post back to Adrian Gonzalez Martin.  Gonzalez Martin took a shot off the bounce, but the attempt sailed just high of the cross bar.  The play of the match for USF came on the defensive end at 24:26 when a diving save from Di Gennaro resulted in a secondary try on goal for Judson.  The attempt sailed toward an open net, but USF defender Austin Dellezay stepped behind to block the ball from entering the goal.  The Eagles outshot USF in the first 45 minutes of action, 6-4, but Di Gennaro recorded four saves to keep the game scoreless.

Second Half
In the second stanza, while Judson (6-4-2, 2-1-1 CCAC) continued to apply offensive pressure, Di Gennaro and the Saints' defense remained strong.  The Eagles were able to target the goal seven times with Di Gennaro shutting the door on each attempt, including three tremendous diving saves at the 67:26, 78:03, and 83:04 marks.  Judson finished the period outshooting the Saints in the period 15-5.

St. Francis was led offensively by Gaudry, who recorded a team-high three shot attempts.  Noah Landers targeted the goal twice, while Amir Aharon did the same once. In between the pipes, Di Gennaro's 10 saves led to his first shutout of the 2026 campaign.
