CHICAGO -- An impressive defensive performance during the seven-day period ending Oct. 4 has earned University of St. Francis'
Giselle Mata Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week accord, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Mata was perfect in goal not once, but twice last week, recording her second and third shutouts of the season to net CCAC defensive recognition for the second time this fall.
Her first shutout came last Tuesday in a 4-0 victory opposite Viterbo University, where she stopped seven shots. The senior goalkeeper would add another five saves to her log on Saturday in a 2-0 clean sheet versus Holy Cross College.
St. Francis' 2-0 week moved the Saints into a first-place tie with Olivet Nazarene University. Both teams are 3-0-1 in the conference. USF is 7-4-1 overall.
