Jack Browne has earned distinction as Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, claiming the award for the seven-day period ending Oct. 11 the league office announced on Tuesday.
Browne captured the defensive honors by being part of a backline that did not allow a goal in a pair of league matchups last week. The sophomore midfielder/defender made a number of key defensive stops, including intercepting key crosses and blocking a multitude of shots, which would have resulted in open looks for the opposition.
St. Francis tied Judson University 0-0 last Tuesday before scoring a 1-0 victory over Governors State on Saturday. That left the Saints 3-2-6 overall and 1-0-4 versus the league.Â
The shutouts were the second and third of the season for USF.
