Anna Bintsarovskaya just missed on a pair of victories Sunday afternoon for the University of St. Francis women's tennis team as the Fighting Saints came up on the short end of a 6-0 decision to NCAA II Lewis University at Challenge Fitness.
Lewis (4-6) had to work overtime to beat Bintsarovskaya and
Gabriella Noa at the No. 1 doubles spot, securing a 7-6 (8-6) win. In singles play, Bintsarovskaya rallied in the second set to force a third set before falling 6-4, 6-7 ((5-7), 6-4 at No. 1.
The Flyers gained their first point of the match by also winning at No. 2 doubles, 6-2.Â
On the singles side, Noa had a competitive match at No. 2 before dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Lewis won the other three matches, one by a 6-3, 6-0 count and the other two by identical 6-1, 6-1 readings.
Neither team fielded a No. 6 singles squad.
USF is now 1-3 on the season.
