Men’s Soccer Concludes Season With 4-0 Loss To Indiana Northwest

Gary, Ind. -- The University of St. Francis men's soccer team concluded its season on Tuesday with a 3-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss to Indiana University Northwest.  The RedHawk offense scored two goals in the first half and two more in the second, blanking the Fighting Saints and upping their overall record to 4-13-1 and 3-6-1 in league play.

First Half
Indiana Northwest (4-13-1, 3-6-1 CCAC) came out firing with a heavy front-line attack in the first 45 minutes of play.  The RedHawks would see nine open opportunities in the Saints backfield throughout the first period, with four direct shots on goal, including their fourth and sixth shots which connected for the first two scores of the game just 13 and 15 minutes into the contest.  The Saints' defense would hold IUN at bay for the remaining 30 minutes of the period while offering two unsuccessful offensive tries before the intermission horn sounded keeping the RedHawks' lead to 2-0 at the half.

Second Half
IUN came out after the break with the same offensive pressure displayed in the first half, scoring two additional goals and holding the Saints scoreless.  St. Francis struggled to find its offense in the second half but was able to assemble four more shot attempts than in the opening 45 minutes - including three in the final 15 minutes of play - while the RedHawks totaled 13 in the period to finish the game by solidifying 4-0 victory.

The Saints took eight total shots with five attempts coming on goal, while the RedHawks shot 22 times having 11 of its tries being on-target.  Jonathan Mendez took a team-high three shots, while Benisio Gamino authored two.  Despite allowing the four goals, Merlijn van der Veen picked up seven saves in the contest, five of which came in the second half.

With the loss, the Saints finish the 2025 season with a final record of 2-12-1 overall and 2-8-0 in league play.
