Saints Drop 6-1 Decision To Lake Forest

LOCKPORT, Ill. -- Squaring off against NCAA Division III Lake Forest College on Thursday afternoon, the University of St. Francis women's tennis team fell 6-1 in the non-conference contest at Challenge Fitness. With the loss the Fighing Saints drop to 0-2 on the season.

Lake Forest (6-1) began the contest by taking all three doubles matches, beginning with a 6-0 win over Hannah Linko and Emma Deitz at No. 2, followed by a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 against Sophia Taylor and Gwen Baker to secure the doubles point in its favor. Anna Bintsarovskaya and Heather Heintz would later take the loss at No. 1 in a hard fought 7-5 battle.

The top of the singles lineup was where the Fighting Saints earned their only point of the day, while Heintz (6-1, 6-0), Deitz (6-0, 6-1), Linko (6-1, 6-0), Taylor (6-2, 6-0) and Baker (6-0, 6-0) all had to settle for a loss. Bintsarovskaya defeated Lilliam Dockal at No. 1 with scores of 6-1, 6-3.

Up Next
The Saints will return to action on October 4 when they travel to Chicago Heights, Ill. to compete in a tournament hosted by Prairie State College. The event is slated to begin at 10 am.
