Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Judson Too Much For St. Francis In Conference Loss

ELGIN, Ill. – The University of St. Francis men's soccer team suffered a 9-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss at Judson University on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles proved to be too much for the Fighting Saints to handle as the USF defense allowed a total of 29 shot attempts compared to St. Francis' three. With the loss the Saints fall to 4-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the CCAC.

First Half
Judson (5-3-2, 2-0) came out of the gates firing to get the match started, registering four shots in the first 10 minutes of play.  The Eagles wasted no time in scoring their first goal of the match soon thereafter, notching it past USF keeper Fede Figueredo at the 21:03 mark. The shot by the hosts seemed to fuel an offensive attack as they went on to score their second goal about seven minutes later.  The Saints went through a bit of a dry spell until after the Eagles scored their third goal of the half in the 37th minute.  Antwan Esparza attempted to answer with two shots of his own two minutes later that would result in saves by JU keeper Ivan Dominguez. The momentum rocked back to Judson in the remaining minutes of the half with the Eagles tacking on two more goals to lock the score at 5-0 at the break.

Second Half
Judson came out after the break with the same offensive pressure displayed in the first half, scoring four more goals and holding the Saints scoreless.  St. Francis struggled to find its offense in the second half and was unable to fire off a single shot in the closing 45 minutes, while the Eagles totaled 16 to solidify the 9-0 victory.

Judson erupted for 18 total shots on target in the match, while the Saints registered just three.  Figueredo took the loss in net and had three saves, while Nicholas Di Sandro came in later in the second half to record six saves.

Up Next
St. Francis will return to action on October 5 as the Saints will host Olivet Nazarene University in a CCAC matchup.  Kickoff is slated for a 3:30 pm start at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
