JOLIET, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team cruised to its third straight victory in commanding fashion as the Fighting Saints outscored Graceland University (Iowa) 98-48 in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
Thirteen different Saints contributed to the scoring column with four of those reaching double figures.
Tykara Harrison (4-of-8 shooting) and
Amou Ring (5-of-12) highlighted the attack with both players collecting 14 points each and combining for a perfect showing from the free-throw line (9-of-9).
Coryn Fromm and
Gabi Bednar came off the bench to provide another 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ring was one rebound shy of her first double-double of the season with her nine boards, while
Mariah Pates collected eight rebounds and a game-high four blocked shots. Other scorers for the Saints included
Laurelei Thormeyer (9 points, 5 assists),
Le'lani Harris (8 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals), and
Baylei Johnson (8 points, 7 rebounds).
Maxine Ampofo (11 points, 14 rebounds) was the lone player to record a double-double for Graceland.
A 12-0 run at the start of the contest and carrying to the middle of the first quarter put the game out of reach from the get-to as the Saints never fell below a double-digit lead throughout the game. St. Francis built a 42-21 advantage at the halftime break and extended its lead to 39 points at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, USF eclipsed the 40-point marker with a successful Bedner layup and extended the lead to as high as 51 points with 1:27 left on the clock. A Graceland free throw at the end of the game accounted for the final point in the 98-48 contest.
USF (5-1) also held a commanding 61-43 advantage on the boards over the Yellowjackets (2-5).
