UPLAND, Ind. -- A record-setting performance by University of St. Francis' Sam Tumilty has earned the senior quarterback Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, it was announced by the league office late Monday.  He has now gained the distinction eight times in his career.

Tumilty set three single-season school records when he rushed for four touchdowns in the Saints' 38-13 victory over Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday.  His third four-touchdown game of the year – and fifth of his career – broke program marks for the most rushing touchdowns (20), total touchdowns (20) and total points (122).  Tumilty broke his own record of 16 rushing touchdowns, while surpassing John Larsen (17 total touchdowns, 106 points in 1989) in the other two categories.

Tumilty came into the contest with a combined 16 rushing touchdowns through the team's first eight games.  His scoring runs of 24, 4, 10 and 33 yards were part of a 19-carry, 139-yard rushing afternoon for him, marking the second week in a row that he surpassed 100 yards on the ground.  He also threw for another 145 yards on 19-of-30 passing to finish his afternoon accounting for 384 of USF's 409 total yards of offense. 

For the season, Tumilty ranks third in the nation in rushing touchdowns (20).  He has totaled 748 yards on 127 carries for an average of 83.1 yards per game.  Through the air, he has thrown for 2,039 yards (226.6 yards/game) with 14 touchdowns.
