NAIA No. 6 Webber International Handles Saints

BABSON PARK, Fla. --- Eric Maffie recorded his team-leading fifth home run of the season, but that was all of the offense on the day for the University of St. Francis baseball team, which dropped a 14-1 decision to NAIA No. 6-ranked Webber International University (Fla.) on Wednesday afternoon.

Webber International, which swept its three games against the Fighting Saints this year, coasted to the win by scoring three times in the first inning and five times in the second inning.  Five different Warrior players recorded multiple RBIs, including Angel Diaz, who went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in.  For the three-game series, he went 7-for-10 with 8 RBIs.

Maffie recorded three of USF's six hits in the contest, including the fourth-inning home run.  USF's other hits came off the bats of Nate Maliska, Cody Nold and Alex Martinez.
Webber International improved to 21-4 with the victory, while the Saints fell to 5-13.

Notes: Maffie's multi-hit game was his seventh of the campaign, which leads the club … Nold's hit was his first as a Saint … USF takes on NAIA No. 14-ranked Bellevue University (Neb.) on Thursday at 11 am.
