ORLANDO, Fla. --- The University of St. Francis women's tennis team opened its annual spring trip in Florida by scoring a 7-0 decision over Piedmont University (Ga.) on Sunday morning at the US Tennis Association National Campus. The victory was the second straight for the Fighting Saints, who evened out their overall record at 2-2 on the campaign.
All six USF players in the starting lineup earned a pair of wins on the day, including
Anna Bintsarovskaya in the No. 1 slot for both singles and doubles play. She paired up with
Lieke Coenen for a 6-4 victory before going on to win 6-0, 6-0 in singles action.
Coenen's other victory came at No. 4 singles, where she won 6-0, 6-2.
In USF's other two doubles matches, both the teams of
Denisse Lizano/
Gabriella Noa at No. 2 and
Heather Heintz/
Viyaleta Hordzich at No. 3 won by 6-2 counts.
Lizano captured her other win at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-4, while Noa recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3. Heintz, meanwhile, claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 with Hordzich coming out victorious 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
The loss was the first of the season for Piedmont, which is now 4-1.
USF meets up with NCAA I Creighton University on Monday at 3 pm.
