HANOVER PARK, Ill. --- University of St. Francis' top three women's tennis singles players and its top two doubles pairs all came away with victories on Saturday afternoon to earn the team a 6-3 victory over Wheaton College at Centre Court Athletic Club. Capturing two wins each were
Anna Bintsarovskaya,
Gabriella Noa and
Denisse Lizano.
Bintsarovskaya joined with
Lieke Coenen at No. 1 doubles for an 8-2 victory to get things started off on the right foot. The former then went on to win 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, Noa and Lizano yielded just one game in an 8-1 victory before going their separate ways to rally for singles wins. Lizano had an all-out battle with Wheaton's Alexandra Wachs in the No. 3 spot. After dropping the first set 6-3, Lizano came back to win 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).
Noa was more dominant after falling 6-3 in her first set at No. 2. She won 6-1, 1-0 (10-2) in the latter sets.
USF's other win came at No. 5 singles, where
Viyaleta Hordzich gained a 6-2, 6-0 decision.
The Saints improved to 5-6 with the win, while Wheaton fell for just the fourth time in 16 matches.
St. Francis continues its busy weekend on Sunday hosting Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) at Challenge Fitness beginning at 12:30 pm.
