LOCKPORT, Ill. --- Falling behind after doubles play, the University of St. Francis women's tennis team roared back with a sweep of all six singles matches to claim a 6-1 decision over Grace College (Ind.) on Monday afternoon at Challenge Fitness.
Capturing a pair of wins each was the No. 2 doubles team of
Denisse Lizano and
Gabriella Noa. They won 6-2 combined before separating for respective 7-5, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-0 victories in the Nos. 4 and 2 slots.
Viyaleta Hordzich had the most dominating performance in singles action on the afternoon. She did not yield a game in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6.
The rest of USF's singles wins over Grace (6-9) came at No. 1 (
Anna Bintsarovskaya 7-5, 6-0), No. 3 (
Lieke Coenen 6-1, 6-4) and No. 5 (
Heather Heintz 6-2, 4-6, 6-4).
The Saints (4-5) begin a busy stretch of four matches in four days starting Friday when they travel to DeKalb to play NCAA I Northern Illinois University at 6 pm.
