CHARLESTON, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team opened up the spring portion of its season by dropping a 7-0 decision to NCAA I Eastern Illinois University on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Wottgen presented the best challenge for the Saints against the Panthers (1-0). He took Pau Riera to a tiebreaker in the first set before eventually dropping the set and the match by a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 count.
Sebastian Bahamondes in the No. 1 slot and
Ignacio Hernandez at No. 2 were the only two Saint players to win at least one game in each set. They both fell 6-1, 6-2.
The Saints are home against Wartburg College (Iowa) next Saturday at 3:30 pm.
