DAVENPORT, Iowa --- In a battle of two of the hottest teams in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, St. Ambrose University came away with a 2-0 victory over the University of St. Francis women's soccer team on Tuesday night. The Fighting Bees (10-4, 8-1 CCAC) extended their winning streak to seven games with their fourth straight shutout, while USF (5-6-5, 5-2-3) suffered its first setback in nine matches.
Grace Kuchar provided the winning goal in the 26th minute, with Kaitlyn Brunson adding an insurance tally at the 40-minute mark for St. Ambrose, which maintained its spot atop the league standings with the victory. The hosts outshot the Saints 16-6 overall and 6-1 on goal.
USF's lone shot on target came at the 12-minute mark from
Ixchel Pelayo.
Kelly Flores was the only St. Francis player to record multiple shots, finishing with two.
Rachel Willette authored her conference-leading sixth clean sheet of the year for St. Ambrose, while USF's
Krystal Rodriguez recorded six saves.
Notes: Rodriguez's six saves were her second-most on the campaign … Both USF's six total shots and one shot on goal were season-low marks … The Saints close out the regular season on Saturday when they host new conference member Viterbo University at 1 pm for Senior Day.
