Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fayhee, Wright Lead Saints To 69-48 Win Over Cardinal Stritch

MILWAUKEE --- All five starters and seven players in all shot 50 percent or better for the University of St. Francis men's basketball team, while holding the opposition to season lows in both points and shooting percentage in a 69-48 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday afternoon.

Carter Fayhee and Darius Wright accounted for better than half of USF's points, while shooting a combined .789 (15-of-19).  Fayhee tied for game-high scoring honors with his 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting.  Wright went 6-for-8 from the field for 15 points.

Fayhee also supplied game highs in rebounds (seven) and assists (six) with Wright recording four assists.

Aitor Anabitarte added another 13 points with nine of those coming at the foul line in 12 attempts for the Saints, who finished the game shooting 51 percent (25-of-49), including nearly 61 percent (14-of-23) after the break.  Even more impressive was the fact that USF shot 68.8 percent inside the arc (22-of-32) for the game.

Cardinal Stritch (0-17, 0-10 CCAC) converted on just 17 of its 47 attempts from the field for a season-low 36.2 percentage by a St. Francis opponent.  DaeShawn Jackson accounted for 19 points and six rebounds for the Wolves.

Wright provided six of his 11 first-half points during a 10-0 run to turn a 16-12 deficit into a 22-16 advantage that St. Francis would never relinquish.  Another 9-1 burst late in the opening half would enable the Saints to take a 31-23 lead into the break.

USF would get its lead up to double digits for good by the 14:20 mark of the second half and never looked back with Fayhee going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the closing 20 minutes.

Notes: USF tied a season low with its nine turnovers in the contest.  In the past three games combined, the Saints have committed just 28 miscues … St. Francis' 51 percent shooting clip marked the fourth time this season that the team converted better than half of its attempts in a contest … The Saints are on the road again Wednesday night when they match up against Governors State University in another league contest.
