Anabitarte Delivers Career-High 27 Points In 86-76 Win Over Judson

ELGIN, Ill. --- Aitor Anabitarte scored a career-high 27 points and the University of St. Francis men's basketball team converted a season-high 28 of its 35 free throw attempts to gain an 86-76 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Judson University on Saturday afternoon.

Anabitarte was a big part of the success at the foul line, going 11-for-12 in the game with the 11 made shots tying a team season high.  From the field, he was 8-of-14.  He also provided six rebounds.

Anabitarte was one of four Saint starters to score in double figures, while Justin Phillips came off the bench to net a season-high nine points with a perfect 4-for-4 report at the charity stripe.

Carter Fayhee totaled 12 points, while Darius Wright and EJ Charles each contributed 10 markers.  The latter two combined to go 9-for-10 at the foul line.

The Saints (10-8, 9-5 CCAC) were also on the mark from the field, producing their second-best shooting game by going 26-of-48 (54.2 pct.).  They needed to be with Judson also shooting at a 56.9 percent clip (29-of-51).  The Eagles, however, only went to the foul line 13 times, making ten.

The other big factor in USF's favor was its 16 points off turnovers compared with just three for Judson.  The hosts turned the ball over 15 times to nine for St. Francis.

The Saints never trailed in the contest, opening up their biggest lead at 31-13 in the game's first 12 minutes.  Judson (5-15, 3-9) would cut that deficit down to 11 points by halftime, 44-33, and pulled even closer at 61-55 with 11 minutes left and 71-65 at the 5:13 mark.  USF responded each time in improving to 6-1 on the road this season.

Isiah Burd led Judson with 19 points.  Leonard Wilson provided 17 points off the bench and went 4-for-5 from three-point range.

Notes: Anabitarte's 27 points were also a season high for the team, while his 11 free throws matched his 11-of-13 accuracy report against Indiana Northwest on Dec. 3 … The 86 points scored by the Saints were their third most this year … Judson's 56.9 field goal percentage was the second-highest mark by a USF opponent this season … The Saints are back home on Wednesday to face NCAA II Lewis University at 7 pm.
