GARY, Ind. ---
Desiree Anderson authored her fourth double-double of the season and the University of St. Francis women's volleyball team opened the 2022 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference campaign with a 25-20, 25-19, 16-25, 25-16 victory on Thursday night.
Anderson led the Saints' attack with a season-best 15 kills, while placing second on the team with her 14 digs. The leader in aces, as well, with three, she was one of four USF players on the night to tally double-digit dig totals.
Headlining the defensive attack was
Hannah Monfre, who recorded a season-high 23 digs. Also in the 10-dig club were
Leah Talley and
Kaylie Sippel with 10 each.
Sippel joined Anderson with her own double-double, matching her 10 digs with a team- and season-high 21 assists.
Other contributors for St. Francis (4-1, 1-0 CCAC) included
Gabriela Oliveira, who produced 10 kills.
Indiana Northwest (5-3, 0-1) was led by Emileishka De Jesus' 14 kills and 14 digs.
Notes: Anderson's 14 digs tied her season-high mark … Sippel's 21 assists were also a club-high for the campaign … The Saints have another busy weekend, hosting their own Big Dogs Classic. They open with Loyola University New Orleans (2:30 pm) and Indiana Wesleyan (7:30 pm) on Friday before matching up with Aquinas College (9 am) and Missouri Valley College (2 pm) on Saturday.
