JOLIET, Ill. --- Nine different batters collected hits in the University of St. Francis softball team's 9-1 Game 1 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph, but the Saints could not get the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep as they were held to a season low four hits in the 2-1 second game loss Friday afternoon at the Harlow Lockwood Softball Complex.
In between the two games, the program recognized seniors
Jackie Boydston,
Ally Clay, and
Alyssa Moreno. All three saw action in the first game with Clay starting in left field, Moreno going 1-fof-2 and Boydston serving as a pinch runner.
Bridget McDermott was the beneficiary of a six run first inning in the opener. She aided her own cause with three hits, two runs and two RBIs as part of a four hit day for her.Â
Gracyn Gabriel also had four hits between the two affairs.
Game 1: USF 9, Calumet St. Joseph 1
McDermott and
Brittany Osborne got the offense going right out of the blocks with two run singles in the first inning each. Osborne added another RBI single in the fourth inning as part of a 2 for 3, 3-RBI game for her.
The Saints (25-13, 15-7) also gained a pair of hits from both Gabriel and
