ORLANDO, Fla. --- Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Judson University and NCAA I Dallas Baptist University (Tex.) claimed 5-0 and 7-0 victories, respectively, over the University of St. Francis men's tennis team on Monday. USF's lone victory on the day came from its No.2 doubles team of
Daniel Espinosa and
Martin Rayos Del Sol.
Match 1: Judson 5, USF 0
The league season did not get started the way the Saints would have liked with Judson (7-5, 1-0 CCAC) winning all seven matches. The Eagles opened with 6-4 victories at both 1 and 2 doubles to go along with a 6-0 decision at No.3.
In singles action, Judson did not yield more than two games in any of the four matches that were finished.
Match 2: Dallas Baptist 7, USF 0
The Saints (2-8, 0-1) were competitive for most of the match, including doubles play, where Espinosa and Sol secured their 6-3 win. USF also came close in its other two doubles matches before ceding by identical 6-4 scores.
In singles action,
Sebastian Bahamondes just missed out on a victory in his 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) loss in the No.1 spot.
Dallas Baptist (6-5) gained the other five singles matches in the minimum two sets.
