Saints Drop 7-2 Decision To Hampden-Sydney

ORLANDO, Fla. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team opened its Florida trip by dropping a 7-2 decision to Hampden-Sydney College (Va.) on Sunday afternoon.  USF's two wins came from the No.1 doubles team of Sebastian Bahamondes and Evan Le Guennec and No.4 singles player Daniel Espinosa.

The Saints (2-6) nearly took two of the three doubles matches with the No.2 duo of Espinosa and Martin Rayos Del Sol coming up just short in an 8-7 (7-5) battle. Bahamondes and Le Guennec won their set 8-6, while Hampden-Sydney gained the No.3 match 8-4.

After taking the two doubles matches, the Tigers (1-2) opened with wins at Nos. 3, 2 and 1 singles to claim the match.

Espinosa's win was a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 1-0 (12-10) decision, while Sol also went overtime for the second time on the day at No.5 singles before succumbing. He fell 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 1-0 (10-5).
