ORLANDO, Fla. --- Facing its first ranked foe of the season, the University of St. Francis women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to NAIA No.22 St. Thomas University (Fla.) on Friday to wrap up its Florida trip.
Denisse Lizano gained USF's only victory on the day, claiming a 6-0, 6-2 decision in the No.1 singles slot.
Gabriella Noa, meanwhile, went to a third set at No.3 singles before falling to
Annie Carrera. After dropping the first set 6-2, Noa forced the third set by rallying for a 6-3 victory in Set 2. Carrera, however, won the final set 6-4 to wrap up the match decision.
St. Thomas (4-8) won each of the other four singles matches in the minimum two sets, while losing only one game between the three doubles matches.
