JOLIET, Ill. --- Eight wound up being great for the University of St. Francis women's basketball team as the Fighting Saints extended their season- winning streak to eight games with a 68-59 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Holy Cross College on Wednesday night at the Sullivan Center.
Jordan Pyle led the way for the seventh straight game, totaling a game high 29 points with eight rebounds, while
Andriana Acosta hit the 20 rebound mark for the second time this season. She finished with 20 boards and nine points.
Other contributors included
Kalyn Sias-Chaney (12 points) and
Justene Charlesworth (11 points, 7 rebounds).
Jordyn Smith led the way for Holy Cross (13-13, 8-11) with 21 points.
The Saints (21-6, 18-2) meant business from the get go, jumping out to an initial 16-4 lead in the game's first 3:24 and held a 25-15 advantage at the first stop. They eventually extended the lead to 16 points at the break (43-27) and twice had the advantage as high as 18 points in the third quarter.
Trailing by 17 points early in the fourth quarter, Holy Cross did make some noise with a 10-0 run early in the period to get the deficit within seven points at 58-51. Pyle, however, quelled the storm with a three pointer and the guests never got closer than eight points in the closing 3:23.
