LAKE BLUFF, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team closed out a busy weekend by rallying for a 6-3 victory over Lake Forest College late Sunday afternoon. The Saints used five singles wins, including a pair of third set tie breakers, to claim the decision.
Daniel Espinosa and
Martin Rayos Del Sol led the way with a pair of victories each. They teamed up for USF's lone doubles victory, an 8-5 win at No.2.
The Foresters (2-2) took a 3-1 lead after the first singles match was completed before the Saints mounted their comeback. It started with Sol's 6-0, 6-4 win at No.5 singles followed by Espinosa's 6-4, 6-3 decision at No.4. That tied the contest at three all.
The Saints (2-5) then sealed the match with their tie breaking victories.Â
Sebastian Bahamondes secured the first one at No.2 singles, 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-4).Â
Paul Wottgen then gained the clincher with his 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9) win at No.3.
Aidan Flores earned USF's final win of the day with his 6-2, 6-0 victory at No.6 singles.
