LOCKPORT, Ill. --- Looking to secure back-to-back victories, the University of St. Francis men's tennis team was denied by Wheaton College on Saturday evening as the Thunder came away with a 7-0 win at Challenge Fitness.
Despite the match being quite competitive, the Saints (1-4) had only one victory to show for it. The No.3 doubles team of
Aidan Flores and
Paul Wottgen gained the upper hand in a 6-3 contest. Flores also gave
Michael Walmer all he could handle at No.6 singles before falling 6-4, 6-4.
Daniel Espinosa came the closest to securing a singles victory for USF. He rallied to tie
Joey Geisz at No.5 before dropping the third set tie breaker, 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3).
Sebastian Bahamondes also nearly forced a tie breaker at No.2 singles, where he came up short in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) decision.
Wheaton (3-2) opened the match by winning at both No.1 and No.2 doubles by respective 6-2 and 6-3 counts.
