JACKSON, Wis. --- A pair of wins from four different players enabled the University of St. Francis women's tennis team to secure its first team victory of the season with a 7-2 decision over Concordia University (Wis.) on Saturday night.
Denisse Lizano,
Nikkie Christiansen,
Maria Kuzminskaya, and
Kiana Sikich each notched two wins between the top four spots in singles play and the top two slots on the doubles circuit. Lizano yielded the least amount of games, winning 8-1 with Christiansen at No.1 doubles and 6-1, 6-2 at No.1 singles. Christiansen gained her other victory at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-2.
Kuzminskaya teamed up with Sikich for an 8-4 victory at No 2 doubles before the two players went their separate ways for singles wins. The former won 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) at No.3, while Sikich outlasted her opponent in a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) match at No.4.
The Saints (1-2) secured their final match victory with
Grace Monahan's 6-3, 6-2 win at No.6 singles.
The loss for Concordia dropped the Falcons to 7-2 on the season.
