LOCKPORT, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's tennis team concluded its busy weekend with its second victory in less than 24 hours when the Saints blanked Illinois Wesleyan University by a 7-0 count Sunday afternoon at Challenge Fitness. With the victory, head coach
Mark Ortega's team evened out its overall record at 2-2.
USF yielded only three games in doubles action with the No.1 team of
Denisse Lizano and
Kiana Sikich posting a 6-2 victory and the No.2 duo of
Yashleen Kheterpal and
Maria Kuzminskaya winning 6-1. The Saints won No.3 doubles by forfeit.
Sikich also won in singles play, notching a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the No.2 slot.
USF's other four singles wins came from
Nikkie Christiansen,
Grace Monahan,
Michelle Robert, and
Amanda Dutkiewicz.
Christiansen had to go to a third set tie breaker at No.1 before claiming a 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (11-2) win, while Monahan provided a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No.3. Robert scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at No.4 with Dutkiewicz closing out the day with her 6-4, 6-3 decision at No.5.
Like the No.3 doubles slot, USF gained its win at No.6 singles by forfeit.
The loss dropped Illinois Wesleyan to 3-10 on the campaign.
