LOCKPORT, Ill. --- Fueled by a pair of wins from
Aidan Flores and two victories in third-set tie-breakers, the University of St. Francis men's tennis team collected its first victory of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating NCAA II Quincy University 4-3 at Challenge Fitness.
Flores gained his first win at No.6 singles 6-1, 7-5 before teaming with
Martin Rayos Del Sol for a 7-5 victory at No.3 doubles.
Erwan Le Guennec and
Sebastian Bahamondes outlasted the opposition in each of their singles matches. Le Guennec gained the first win of the day for the Saints (1-3) with his 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (10-7) decision in the No.1 slot. Bahamondes then sealed the team victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at No.2.
USF's other singles win was recorded by
Paul Wottgen at No.3. singles. He posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Daniel Espinosa and Sol also had competitive singles matches with Espinosa eventually falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) at No.4. Sol dropped his No.5 match by a 6-4, 6-4 count.
Quincy (0-4) earned its other point by notching two wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles by 6-3 and 6-1 scores.
