Saints Coast To Win Over Calumet St. Joseph

WHITING, Ind. --- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team held Calumet College of St. Joseph to single digits in scoring in three of four quarters in coasting to a 77-32 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on Monday night.  The contest kicked off a six-game road trip throughout the month of December for the Saints, who improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in league play.

No fewer than six St. Francis players provided at least eight points to the cause with four scoring in double figures.  Justene Charlesworth led the way for the second straight game with her five three-pointers netting 15 points.  She also had three steals.

Alina Jahnke and Jordan Pyle matched each other with 12 points each with Jahnke also recording a game-high eight rebounds.  Pyle registered six boards.

Coming off the bench to score in double figures was Mia Kennelly, who totaled 11 points sparked by three treys in four attempts.  Her other numbers as part of a solid all-around game included five rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Hannah Swiatek ran the offense, dishing out a game-high eight assists, while contributing nine points.

Josie Graffeo was part of a St. Francis unit that claimed a 53-26 advantage on the boards by securing seven rebounds.

USF's defense held Calumet St. Joseph to 25.5 percent shooting on the night, including just a 21.9 percent reading (9-of-41) over the final three quarters.

Markeysha Coleman led Calumet St. Joseph (0-7, 0-7) with nine points.

Notes: Swiatek tied a career high with her eight assists … Jahnke's scoring and rebounding numbers were both season-high marks … The Saints face unbeaten Indiana University South Bend (10-0, 4-0) on Wednesday in South Bend.  Tipoff is 4:30 pm CT.
