JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team hit the century mark for the second straight game, while also extending the program's home win streak to 17 contests in a row with a 101-41 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Trinity International University on Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Center.
Like they did three days earlier, the Saints (4-1, 2-0 CCAC) jumped on top early to cruise to the victory. On Saturday, it was a 26-10 advantage after one quarter that stretched to 25 points just 40 seconds into the second quarter.
USF also got things done defensively, limiting Trinity International (1-4, 0-2) to just 26.3 percent shooting from the field (15-of-57), including just two makes in 18 attempts from three-point range.
The extended scoring margin allowed plenty of St. Francis players to gain quality time for the second game in a row with the net result being that all 14 players reached the scoring column. Headlining the attack for the second straight game was
Justene Charlesworth with 20 points and six three-pointers. She also tied for top rebounding honors with eight boards.
The only other Saint to hit double figures in scoring was
Jordan Pyle with 11 points. She also delivered six of the team's 16 assists, six rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocks.
Besides the scoring column, six different Saints pulled down at least five rebounds resulting in a 57-31 advantage in that category.Â
Alina Jahnke tied Charlesworth for the top spot with eight to match her eight points.Â
Le'lani Harris collected seven rebounds, while providing nine points.
Among the other contributors,
Hannah Swiatek registered 8 points and 3 steals, while
Braxtin Mickens totaled seven points and six boards.
Jakyah Amous led Trinity International with 14 points.
Notes: USF's 83 field goal attempts were a season high. The Saints converted 38 of those shots for an overall 45.8 percent reading … The team's 16 steals were also the highest total of the season with Pyle,
Talia Pellegrini and
Josie Graffeo being the main theft artists with three each … On the opposite side of the ledger, head coach
John McGinty's club committed a season-low six turnovers … The Saints conclude their three-game homestand on Monday night when they take on Bethel University at 7 pm.       Â
