Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Saints' Attacking Line Does In Judson

ELGIN, Ill. ---- Aided by three players attacking at a .300-plus clip and four contributing to the team's ten service aces, the University of St. Francis women's volleyball team scored a 25-19, 25-18, 28-26 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference road victory against Judson University on Tuesday night.

Stephanie Woods led the attacking brigade with her .500 clip, producing eight kills against only one error in 14 chances.  Gabriela Oliveira was next in line at .313 with her seven kills, followed closely behind by Desiree Anderson at .310.  All three contributed to USF's season-high .275 attack percentage as a team.

Anderson authored her eighth double-double of the season with team-leading numbers in both kills (13) and digs (10).  Kaylie Sippel fell one dig short of her own double-double with nine digs and a team-high 15 assists.

Hannah Pacheco added 13 assists.

Leah Talley topped the list in aces with four.  Hannah Monfre added three to go along with her eight digs, while Sippel (two) and Pacheco (one) accounted for the other aces.

The Saints trailed in all three sets by between three and six points each time before rallying.  The first set was the biggest deficit of 14-8 before going on an unanswered seven-point run.  Talley had two aces in the run as did Monfre in another 5-0 burst to close out the set.

Another 5-0 run sparked the rally in Set 2.  The Saints trailed 7-4 before forcing ties at 9 and 11.  Taylor Connolly had two big kills in the surge before five different USF players contributed to another 5-1 run to end the set.

In Set 3, Judson pushed to extend the match, leading 23-9, but the Saints gained nine of the final 12 points to go home with the victory.  Anderson and Woods each had a pair of kills at the end.

Notes: USF's ten aces were its most since the season-opening tournament at Aquinas when the Saints produced double figures In three of four matches … The Saints' previous high-water mark in attacking was last Thursday night when head coach Cara Currier's club hit at a .267 clip … Woods' .500 attack reading tied her season high and marked the third time in the last four matches that she has hit .467 or better … Talley's four aces were her second most this season … The Saints compete in the Trinity Christian College Trolls Invite on Friday and Saturday beginning with matchups against Knox College (5 pm) and Missouri Baptist University (7 pm) on the first day.
