Saints Earn Most Convincing Win of the Season, Defeat Cardinal Stritch 84-49

JOLIET, Ill. --- Behind a game high 18 points from EJ Charles and 11 players in all reaching the scoring column, the University of St. Francis men's basketball team registered its most convincing victory of the season with its 84-49 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Center.

The Saints (9-6, 5-5 CCAC) doubled up on Cardinal Stritch from the field converting 32 field goals to the Wolves' 16, while shooting 50.8 percent overall (32-of-63) to CSU's 30.2 percent mark (16-of-53). They also out boarded the guests, 43-29, and forced 19 turnovers to gain a 30-12 advantage in points off turnovers.

Like USF's women's team earlier in the day, head coach Ryan Marks' club jumped out to an identical 14-2 lead to start the contest and held a double digit lead from the 10:58 mark of the opening half to the game's completion. The Saints' biggest lead of 39 points came with 7:13 to play in the contest.

Charles totaled seven rebounds and three blocked shots to go along with his 18 points. Darius Wright, Lewis Holey, Carter Fayhee, and Reihana Maxwell-Topia all just missed scoring in double figures with nine points each. Fayhee also produced a game high eight rebounds.

Other contributors included Russell Tillery (8 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds) and Carlos Tovias (5 points, 4 assists).

Mason Khalu led Cardinal Stritch (3-11, 1-7) with 12 points.
