NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team opened its 2022 spring campaign by dropping a 9-0 decision to North Central College at the Naperville Tennis Club on Saturday evening.
The Cardinals (1-1) scored 8-1, 8-2 and 8-0 victories in each of the three doubles matches to gain a 1-0 advantage. The hosts then went on to win each of the six singles matches in the minimum two sets.
Paul Wottgen provided the most competitive match at No.2 singles for the Saints, where he dropped a 6-4, 6-4 contest to
Javier Suarez. At No.1,
Erwan Le Guennec fell 6-3, 6-2.
Daniel Espinosa and
Aidan Flores at the No. 3 and 4 spots, respectively, both fell by 6-3, 6-1 counts.
North Central closed out the match with 6-0, 6-0 wins in the final two singles slots.
