MOLINE, Ill.--- The University of St. Francis women's tennis team notched its first victory of the season with a 4-1 decision over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe St. Ambrose University on Saturday at the Quad City Tennis Club.
After dropping their first doubles match at No.3, the Saint duos of Nikkie Christiansen (JR/Rockford, Ill.)/Maria Kuzminskaya (SR/Saint Petersburg, Russia) and, Denisse Lizano (SO/Quito, Ecuador)/Kiana Sikich (FR/Mokena, Ill.) grabbed victories at Nos.1 and 2. The result gave the Saints their first point of the match and marked the first team doubles victory of the season.
Christiansen and Lizano would get their second victories of the day in singles action. Lizano started things off with a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory over SAU's Megan Schueneman at No.3. Christiansen would end the night with her 6-3, 6-4 win over Meg Chadick at No.1.
Yashleen Kheterpal (SR/Bhilai, India) claimed her third victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No.5. The matches at Nos. 2 and 4 went unfinished as the three singles victories and the doubles point gained by the Saints were enough to win the match.
USF (1-4, 1-1 CCAC) looks to continue its momentum after a quick turnaround hosting Roosevelt University on Sunday (March 28) for its second CCAC match in as many days. The contest is scheduled to begin at 10 am.
