Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Saints Fall For The First Time At Home

JOLIET, Ill. --- Using scoring advantages of 22-6 off turnovers and 21-4 on second-chance points, Lincoln College became the first team to solve the University of St. Francis men's basketball team at the Sullivan Center, halting the Saints' season-opening five-game home winning streak with an 80-70 victory in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

Lincoln (4-7, 4-3 CCAC) opened the contest with the first eight points before Lewis McGlasson sparked a Saints' rally with eight straight points, including back-to-back treys, to give USF its first lead of the afternoon at 15-14. That, however, would be one of only two leads on the afternoon for the Saints as the Lynx used a closing 13-6 run to end the half and take a 43-33 advantage into the break.

St. Francis (6-3, 3-3) was quick to cut that deficit in half in the first minute after the intermission, but could never get any closer the rest of the day. Lincoln opened up its biggest lead of 53-42 at the 13:49 mark before McGlasson and Carter Fayhee again cut the deficit to five points (57-52) with just over nine minutes remaining.

Lincoln would again push the lead back to double digits one minute later only to have the Saints rally twice more getting within six points at both the 6:09 and 3:09 marks before falling by the 10-point margin.

USF's offensive numbers were solid for the day, actually outshooting Lincoln from the field in both areas, overall (.473-.438) and beyond the arc (.500-.222), but the Lynx did hold a 20-7 scoring advantage at the foul line. The Saints also committed 19 turnovers to 13 for Lincoln and were out rebounded 44-26, including 16-2 on the offensive glass.

Joey Buggemi led the Saints with 20 points, followed by EJ Charles with 14 and McGlasson with 13 off the bench.

Lincoln collected all but 11 of its points from Peewee Brown (game high 25 points), Darnell Latham Jr. (22), and Dejon Barney (22).
