DAVENPORT, Iowa --- The most successful season in the past six years for the University of St. Francis women's soccer program has come to an end after the No.8 seeded Saints fell to No.5 seed St. Ambrose University 2-0 in the semifinal round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night.
The Fighting Bees (14-5-1) produced the only goal they needed just 2:17 into the contest with the insurance tally coming in the 19th minute.Â
Morgan Wahlen contributed to both goals with her assist on the first one and finding the back of the net on the second.
Riley Garcia was credited with the first goal.
USF's only shot on goal came three minutes into the second half by
Litzy Corona. The Saints managed just four shots overall, while St. Ambrose countered with 21 total shots, nine of which were on goal.
Yadira Estrada saved seven of the Bees' attempts, while
Rachel Willette stopped St. Francis' only attempt to record the shutout victory.
Head coach
Al Palar's team concluded the season with an overall record of 9-7-2. The nine wins were the most since the 2015 campaign. The season also marked the first time since 2017 that the Saints made the CCAC Tournament and the first time since 2014 that they got as far as the semifinal round.
