Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Governors State Ends Saints' Season

CROWN POINT, Ind. --- After saddling Governors State University with its only conference loss of the regular season, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team could not repeat the feat as the No.7 seeded Saints dropped a 4-0 decision to the No.2 Jaguars in the opening round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday night.

Both teams kept the other at bay for much of the first half before the hosts broke the ice at 38:25. It would remain that way until the Jaguars struck again at 69:17. They would eventually add a pair of insurance tallies in the 85th minute.

For the match, Governors State attempted 32 total shots with 12 coming on goal. The Saints, meanwhile, were able to get off just five shots, only one of which was on goal.
Luis Ramirez was credited with the shutout in goal for Governors State. Carson Heglund derailed eight shots for the Saints.

Leading goal scorer Zakhar Shkidchenko made the only attempt on goal for USF. The senior closed out his season ranking second in the nation in total goals scored with 22.  That also established a new school record.

The loss ends USF's season with a 7-11-1 record.
