Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Saints Remain Unbeaten In League Play With 84-72 Win Over Roosevelt

CHICAGO --- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team scored 20-plus points in each of the first three quarters of its 84-72 victory over Roosevelt University on Tuesday night to remain unbeaten in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Saints put up 25 points in the first quarter, 23 in the second and 24 in the third to build as high as a 29 point advantage in improving to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in league play.

St. Francis led from start to finish, opening up a 25-10 lead in the game's first five minutes by hitting eight of its first nine shots, including six three-pointers. Roosevelt (2-5, 2-3 CCAC) would chisel the deficit down to four points twice in the second quarter before a 16-3 run by the Saints late extended the lead back to double digits at 48-31. USF would never see that advantage slip below 12 points the rest of the way in shooting 46 percent from the field (29-of-63) with 13 three-pointers in 26 attempts.

Roosevelt, on the opposite end of the court, hit at a 32 percent clip from the field (24-of-75) with only seven treys in 31 attempts.

The only negative for USF on the night was its 24 turnovers.

Eleven different Saints reached the scoring column on Tuesday with five totaling no less than 11 markers. Topping the scoring chart was Andriana Acosta with her 14 points.  She also grabbed six rebounds.

Shadrian McDaniel was next in line with her 13 points, followed by 12 from Justene Charlesworth and 11 each from Jorja Bolton and Braxtin Mickens. Each of those four individuals also delivered two or more three-pointers topped by Charlesworth's four.

Mickens led St. Francis on the boards with her eight caroms. Kalyn Sias-Chaney provided six assists and six rebounds.
