JOLIET, Ill. ---
Lewis McGlasson was one of nine members of the University of St. Francis men's basketball team to score at least eight points as the Saints hit the century mark for the first time in the 2021-22 season with their 104-79 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Trinity Christian College on Monday night.
McGlasson came off the bench to post a team-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field with three three-pointers in only 19 minutes of action.Â
Darius Wright (10 points),
Carter Fayhee (nine) and
Jalen Bates (eight) also subbed in to provide plenty of offensive support off the bench.
All five USF starters were key contributors as well with both
Lewis Holey (9 points/10 rebounds) and
EJ Charles (10 points/9 rebounds) just missing authoring double-doubles. Charles also recorded three steals and a pair of blocks.
Joey Buggemi led the starters with 12 points, while
Russell Tillery provided ten and
Carlos Tovias nine.
USF (3-1, 2-1 CCAC) put up 50-plus points in the opening half for the second time already this season courtesy of a 61.1 percent shooting mark from the field (22-of-36), including seven three pointers in 14 attempts, to build a 57-33 cushion at the break. The Saints would somewhat cool off in the second half, but still finished at 51.4 percent for the game (38-of-74). They never cooled off at the foul line connecting on all 20 of their attempts.
Trinity Christian (5-2, 3-1), meanwhile, shot just 36.4 percent in the opening 20 minutes, while also yielding 34 points off turnovers for the game compared with getting just nine points off only nine Saint turnovers.
USF had a 10-point lead by the 10:58 mark of the opening half after going on a 15-4 run and never led by less than double figures the rest of the way. Trinity Christian did make one push in the second half to get the deficit down to 14 points (73-59) with just over nine minutes remaining before the Saints went on a 24-7 burst to push the lead past the 30-point barrier.
Trinity Christian's
Braxton Barnhizer led all scorers with 18 points, including drilling five long-range three-pointers, and finished with a double-double (10 rebounds).
