Five Saints Score In Double Figures In 71-38 Win Over Trinity International

JOLIET, Ill. --- Five players scored in double figures and nine scored in all as the University of St. Francis women's basketball team led from start to finish in scoring a decisive 71-38 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Trinity International University on Saturday night at the Sullivan Center.

The Saints (5-1, 3-0 CCAC) scored the first ten points of the contest and 16 of the first 18, while also connecting on nine of their first 13 field goal attempts. From that point on, they never led by less than 10 points and pushed the difference to as high as 34 points early in the fourth quarter.

For the second straight game, USF put the game out of reach in the third quarter. After outscoring Calumet College of St. Joseph 31-5 right after the break on Wednesday, the Saints put up 22 points to Trinity International's four in the third quarter on Saturday.

Head coach John McGinty's club shot no less than 60 percent in both the first (9-of-15) and third quarters (8-of-13), while Trinity International (2-2, 0-2) made just one of its 15 shots in the third quarter.

Andriana Acosta tied for game-high scoring honors (15 points), while leading the way with her 12 rebounds to notch her fourth double-double of the season. Jorja Bolton, Shadrian McDaniel, and Braxtin Mickens each totaled 11 points, while Kalyn Sias-Chaney recorded 10 points and four assists.

Trinity International, which only scored in double figures in the fourth quarter, shot just 24.1 percent for the game (14-of-58) and only 14.3 percent from long range (3-of-21).  The only Trojan to score in double figures was Alina Jahnke, who matched Acosta's 15 points.

Besides the big scoring difference, the Saints also dominated on the boards, 49-28. USF also just missed shooting 50 percent for the game by one attempt, finishing at 49.2 percent (30-of-61).
