Box Score JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with its fourth victory in a row at the Sullivan Center defeating Calumet College of St. Joseph 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-22 in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday night.
Those honored in pre-match ceremonies were players
Kendra Bullard,
Bevin Carter,
Gabby Paelmo,
Lauren Stefanski, and
Stephanie Woods and team administrative assistant
Nicole Kulon.
Woods wound up finishing the night as the team's leading attacker with her 11 kills, while Stefanski led the way in blocks with five to go along with seven kills. Paelmo and Carter were two of four Saints to record double-figure dig totals. Paelmo totaled 14 digs with Carter registering 10.
Kaylie Sippel, meanwhile, authored the best all-around performance of her young career contributing in multiple categories. She notched a double-double with her team-high 22 assists and 14 digs, while adding seven kills to the effort.
Five different Saints produced at least seven kills with
Peyton Baird and
Taylor Connolly each recording eight. Other contributors included
Hannah Pacheco with 13 assists and
Hannah Monfre with game highs in digs (16) and aces (three). Â Â
The two teams split their first two sets in similar fashion. The Saints (14-15, 10-5 CCAC) jumped out on top in Set 1 7-1 and never led by less than three points the rest of the way. In Set 2, the Crimson Wave (9-25, 1-14) held the three-point margin after opening with a 10-4 run.
USF took control in Set 3 by scoring 14 of 15 points during one stretch to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 17-5 lead. The Saints also used a 9-1 run in Set 4 to overcome a 14-11 deficit and never trailed again despite Calumet St. Joseph pulling to within one point on a pair of occasions.
