MOUNT PLEASANT Mich.- The University of St. Francis men's team was unable to overcome the relentless Central Michigan offensive attack in this Monday (Dec. 14) exhibition game as the Saints fall 91-39 to the Chippewas at CMU's McGuirk Arena.
CMU, an NCAA Division I program, opened the game scoring the first six points and would extend their lead to 22 points (38-16) with 2:30 remaining in the half. The Saints trailed 38-25 at halftime connecting on 28% (28.6) shooting from the floor and 60% (3-5) from the free-throw line.
Despite only being down 13 at the half, the Saints would struggle to overcome the deficiency as the Chippewas ran away with the game in the second half. The Chippewas outscored the Saints 53-14 and connected on 58% (21-36) of their shots in the second half.
Foward Carter Fayhee (Jr/Macomb, Ill) lead all USF scorers with seven points and added three rebounds. Guard Carlos Tovias (Sr/Corsicana, Tx) was right behind Fayhee and provided six points for the Saints. Lewis Holey (Sr/Sydney, Australia) led the way for the Saints in rebounding as he brought in five rebounds for the Saints. USF would go on to have a solid day on the boards and was only outrebounded 51-45. Guard Eric Ting (Sr/Taoyuan, Taiwan) dished out a team-high two assists while on the defensive end Deandre Johnson (Sr/Watts, Calif) lead the team with two blocks as 15 players saw the floor for the Saints.
For the game, USF connected on 24% (15-62) from the floor and was 2-18 (11.1&) from the three-point line. The Saints converted on seven out of 12 free throws and finished the game at 58.3% from the line.
CMU was lead by Meikkel Murray led in both scoring and rebounding and finished with a 15 point and eight-rebound performance. Ralph Bissainthe and Caleb Huffman would also score in double-figures from the Chippewas. CMU connected on 52% (36-69) from the floor and 6-16 (37%) from beyond the arch. Their 91 point performance was their highest-scoring total so far this season.
The win would represent CMU's third win of the season and will improve their record to 3-3 overall. As for USF, they will remain 4-1 overall.

USF will complete their road trip this Wednesday (Dec. 14) in Davenport, Iowa where they will take on CCAC foe St. Ambrose University in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m (CT) at Lee Lohman Arena.
