PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - Five players reached double-figure scoring for the nationally 19th-ranked University of St. Francis men's basketball team as the Saints posted a 75-57 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road decision over Trinity Christian this Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon at TCC's DeVos Gymnasium.

Leading the USF scoring attack was guard Eric Ting (JR/Taoyuan, Taiwan), who poured in a game-high 18 points as four of the Saints' five starters produced double-digit points. Forward Lewis Holey (JR/Sydney, Australia) netted 13 points and hauled in a game-leading 11 rebounds and guard Jorden Thornton (SR/Hoffman Estates, Ill.) came off the bench to pump in 13 points. Guard Cole Micek (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.), who also contributed three assists and steals apiece, along with forward Mitch Kwasigroch (SR/Manhattan, Ill.) each registered 10 points.

The Saints, who improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the CCAC with the win, connected on 37.9 percent (22-58) of its shots from the floor and were five-of-19 from behind the three-point line for 26.3 percent efficiency. At the free throw stripe, the Saints drained 26-of-30 attempts for 86.7 percent. Trinity Christian, which falls to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the CCAC, made 38.6 percent (22-57) of its field goal attempts. The Trolls put up 24 shots from beyond the three-point arch and hit on seven for 29.2 percent and converted six-of-seven at the charity stripe for 85.7 percent.

USF was outrebounded by one (38-37) despite Holey's notable performance on the boards, which included five grabs on the offensive side. Kwasigroch contributed eight rebounds.

The Saints committed 10 turnovers in the game and forced the Trolls into 20 total as the visitors produced a 19-7 points margin in points off turnovers. USF claimed a 26-24 edge in points in the paint while Trinity Christian posted a 23-20 points advantage in bench scoring.

The first half saw USF shoot 42.3 percent (11-26) to Trinity Christian's 30 percent (9-30) as the Saints led 31-25 at the half. USF, which outscored the Trolls 44-32 in the second half, held the edge even through Trinity Christian was able to get within a point at 46-45 with 11:30 remaining in the contest. USF scored a pair of baskets to up its lead to four (50-45) with just under 11 minutes left but an 8-2 TCC run put the Trolls out in front 53-52 at the 9:21 mark. Following a pair of Holey free throws which gave USF the lead (54-53), the Trolls' Deantre DeYoung buried a three ball as the Trolls retook the lead at 55-54 with a little of eight minutes left.

From there, Trinity Christian would go scoreless for the next six minutes as the Saints reeled off 15 consecutive points to take a 69-55 lead with just under two minutes remaining. A TCC basket with 1:50 showing on the scoreboard would represent the Trolls' final point of the game as USF tallied six unanswered points in the time left for the final score.
