John McGuire

John McGuire joined the Fighting Saints in July of 2025 as an assistant coach for the baseball team.  In the summer of 2026, he accepted the position of graduate assistant coach.  The 2026-27 season will mark McGuire’s combined second year with the program, and first year as the graduate assistant.

At St. Francis, McGuire assists the program in coordination of practice plans, individual player development, and implementation of game strategies.

A second team all-conference selection in 2024, McGuire finished his career with a .348 batting average and .422 on-base percentage.  He slugged at a .488 clip and registered an OPS of .910.  He also finished among the team leaders in hits (186), doubles (35), RBI (92), total bases (261), runs scored (135), and free passes (75).  On the mound, McGuire was just as successful, finishing with a total of nine wins along with career marks in ERA (3.85), strikeouts (80), innings pitched (133.1) and saves (5).

A starter in 156 of 180 career games played by the team between the 2021-2024 seasons, the pitcher/infielder finished with a career .960 fielding percentage.  In his final season competing for the Saints, he was recognized as a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Gold Glove Recipient at second base, after fielding 79 of his 82 chances cleanly for a .963 percentage.

McGuire graduated from the University of St. Francis (Ill.) in December of 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in History with certification in Secondary Education.  During his time as a student-athlete at USF, he received CCAC All-Academic and NAIA Scholar Athlete accolades three times and was named to the College Sports Communicators All-District squad once.  In 2024, he was named USF’s Male Student Athlete of the Year.

McGuire is currently working on his Master’s of Educational Leadership from University of St. Francis (Ill.), and is expected to graduate in May of 2028.
