Steve Jaros joined the Fighting Saints in July of 2021 as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s bowling teams.  The 2025-26 season will mark Jaros’ fifth year as assistant coach.

At St. Francis, Jaros assists the program in coordination of practice plans, individual player development, and implementation of game strategies.

Prior to joining the Fighting Saints staff, Jaros spent three seasons (2018-2021) as an assistant head coach for the women’s bowling team at St. Ambrose University (Iowa).  While as an assistant coach for the Fighting Bees, Jaros was responsible for developing training sessions, recruiting new talent, assessing the developmental progress of current players, and management of lane play.  He coached the junior varsity squad at tournaments and also led the varsity team at ITC Nationals in Grand Rapids, Mich. in the spring of 2021.

From 1990-2010, Jaros was the co-owner and operator of a successful pro shop in the Chicago area suburbs.  He also ran clinics and started a training center inside of Fox Bowl in Wheaton, Ill.

Along with his coaching involvement, Jaros formally competed on the PBA Tour from 1987-2011.  While on tour, he won seven national titles including the 2005 Dexter Tournament of Champions major.  In total, Jaros has won 43 regional PBA titles, advanced to eight televised finals, and earned 18 Top 10 finishes.  In 1999 at the PBA Chattanooga Open, Jarosand fired the 14th televised 300 game in PBA history.

In 2018, Jaros was inducted into the Illinois Bowling Hall of Fame and in 2024 he was enshrined into the PBA Hall of Fame in 2024.
