NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Olivet Nazarene University put an end to the women's tennis season for the University of St. Francis on Tuesday afternoon by defeating the Fighting Saints 4-2 in quarterfinal-round action of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
Olivet Nazarene (2-12) started off the day claiming the first team point of the match with wins at Nos. 2 (6-2) and 3 (6-0) doubles after
Anna Bintsarovskaya and
Heather Heintz authored a 6-0 win at No. 1.
In singles play, the Tigers jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead after victories at Nos. 4 and 6 singles, before Heintz (6-1, 6-1) and
Eva Kubilius (6-2, 6-0) recorded wins at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, to push the score to 3-2.
The Tigers then claimed the fourth and final point of the match with a win at No. 5.
Bintsarovskaya was next in line at No. 1 singles, but her match was stopped as a result of the 4-2 ONU win with the senior leading 7-5.
The Saints finished their season at 2-7.
